This was the first song we— (Alex and Aleisha)— ever wrote! We wanted to write a song for a long time, but never knew what to write about. So our mom suggested that we write about the time we spent on hot summer days down at the river. We still love to go down to the flats and wade out in the water. We usually go with a whole bunch of our other family members: aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins. We spend the entire day there, walking up the bank and floating back down, and we even roast hotdogs and marshmallows. It's a blast!

Summer Days

Get up early mornin'
Hoe a row or two
Finish up our mornin' chores
We've got better things to do
Drive down to the swimmin' hole.
We stay ‘till we see the moon.
Sittin' by the old campfire
Hummin' a country tune.
CHORUS:
Summer nights,
Summer days.
Sittin' on the rocky shore,
Soakin' up the sun- rays.
We have a ton o' fun
We have a blast.
Those lyin' ‘round days
How we wish they would last.
Floatin' down the river,
On a sunny summer day
Down on the river flats,
Is where we love to play.
Splashing in the water
Till we're soaking wet
We are having so much fun
We ain't leaving yet.
CHORUS
Up before the sunrise
Headin' to the dock
Mama calls behind you,
Best be home by six o'clock.
Lazin' round the old house
Watchin' the T.V.
Some watch that tube all day
But that's just not for me.
CHORUS 2x
